Ballast Point TRADE STREET COLLECTION
This collection was created with the intention of showcasing the talented brewer’s award-winning barrel aged & sour beer programs. I was tasked with creating a new brand within the Ballast Point portfolio which looked and felt like the brand, but did not use any of the customary fish or skeleton artwork. The liquid would go into a screened glass bottle with a cork & cage closure. This was supposed to appeal to the more sophisticated beer buyer. Ready to be tucked away somewhere for years of cellaring, or taken straight to a bottle share to quaff with friends. I worked closely with the brewers to make sure we included as much as I could from their recipes, trying to convey all the information they thought was necessary for our distinguished customers. In the end I let the brewer’s attention to the details help inform my design. Small flourishes and accents surrounding enclosed type gave this a classic feel to me. Something you might see in a train station or an old general store.
On the fringes of the Ballast Point brewery map lies a mysterious warehouse. Within its walls slumber beer upon beer in barrels stacked floor to ceiling. A Russian Imperial Stout sleeping in Robert Mondavi and Clos Du Bois Cabernet barrels here, an Imperial brown resting on peanuts in Copper and Kings Brandy barrels other there. There be monsters here, and treasures too. Welcome to our newest voyage in wild and barrel aged beer, known simply as Trade Street
